


Operative Skills in Neurosurgery

This intensive 3 day cadaveric course offers a unique opportunity to perform a wide range of simulated neurosurgical cranial and spinal procedures using state of the art equipment including operating microscope, high speed drill, endoscope and micro instruments. Day 1 comprises high speed drill training and surgical anatomy tutorials. On day 2 delegates carry out simulated procedures involving the anterior and posterior cervical spine, the craniocervical junction and posterior lumbar region. Day 3 focuses on cranial approaches including pterional, bifrontal, parasagittal and posterior fossa craniotomies using both open and endoscopic techniques.
All faculty are experienced Consultant Neurosurgeons and Spinal surgeons with a ratio of no more than 2 delegates to each cadaver. The course is suitable for CT/ST1-2, ST3-4 and SAS grades. Precourse reading material is provided.
Location
This course relocated to the Vesalius Centre in Bristol following the closure of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London for refurbishment and continues to deliver the same highly successful format.
Getting to Bristol
Bristol has excellent road, rail, coach and air links. The international airport is a short bus journey from the city centre. More information can be found here
Cost
The course fee is £1300 and includes all refreshments, lunches and a course dinner. Accomodation is not included.
